OF THE SPECIFIC NUMBERED CORE LORE
|
Procrastination, that palliative for not getting started or for stopping after you start, can sound the death knell for many a goal and plan. Is there an easy way to overcome inertia and resistance? Yes, and that is what this core lore is all about. There are a number of approaches that can expedite action and enable you to start the journey towards achievement, and, once started, keep you going if you show signs of faltering along the way. The one approach that is not recommended is the exercise of sheer willpower, which can produce an inordinate amount of stress, even though it might make you move. There is a hard way and an easy way to do almost anything. Willpower implies you are forcing yourself to do something under protest. It can set off an internal chain reaction that impacts adversely on your health. You can generate action and momentum in a much more gentle fashion by taking advantage of the mind-body connection. The Action Complex contains seven different types of preliminary activity, any one of which can be engaged in prior to taking the action step, each of which will serve to dull antipathy towards starting or continuing, obviating the necessity for forcing yourself to the point of too much mental strain. The name of each member of the Action Complex contains the word "action" plus a first letter that indicates the type of preliminary activity that will make it easier to generate initial momentum. Here is an overview of each of the action techniques. 1) Daction stands for directions plus action. The sample page below gives a description of why and how it works. 2) Vaction is the visual counterpart of Daction, and both are intertwined with another concept known as Representational Overlap. This core lore explains how you can use three different types of visualization - preplay, role play, and goal play, to expedite implementation. 3) Baction means breathing plus action. The high priests and monks and yogis of Eastern religions placed great emphasis upon breath. They devised methods of inhaling and exhaling that produced relaxation and also bursts of energy and power. The core lore details seven different types of breathing, any one of which will help you get more oxygen to your brain and body parts and jump-start the action mode. 4) Paction means a pill plus action. The pill referred to can be an herb like St. John's Wort or a mild tranquilizer. It does not mean an industrial strength upper or alcohol or marijuana or designer mind-altering anything. Any substance that can space you out should be permanently banned from your arsenal of remedial tools. Anything addictive or mind-altering is a definite no-no. 5) Laction. The letter "L" stands for Light-Up Mode, which is an auditory internal anchor (explained in another core lore). It works instantly for me, and, if used in similar or variant style by anyone else, can prove equally effective. Every person should have a personalized coded directive that can be silently uttered to trigger change from resistance to action. 6) Maction means meditation followed by action. Only fast-forward types of meditation are suitable. Three of them - "mantra med", "breathing med", and "moving med", are detailed in this core lore. All serve to slow down your thoughts and your preoccupations so that you can start your action step with a less encumbered mindset. 7) Saction combines various forms of subconscious suggestion with action. This core lore contains techniques for reaching hidden depths within yourself for the purpose of implanting suggestions that can subsequently spur you to action. It is only necessary to reach the middle alpha level, which is the stage below our normal waking state, to get the results you are after. Two of the techniques detailed - finger levitation and graphotherapy, are easy to use and produce startling results. |

"Daction" is another mechanical technique that can provide instant impetus and help you overcome procrastination. "D" stands for direction and the rest of the word means that it is followed by action. It is based on the thesis that you have been taking orders from others and giving orders to others all your life. The only difference is that with Daction you give orders to yourself before and as you take the action necessary to achieve your objective. It is simplicity itself because you have already been conditioned to obey. When you were young, your parents were always telling you what to do. You followed their directions because they knew best and you knew you would be disciplined if you did not. When you were in school, the teachers told you what to do and you complied. Likewise, for when you were at work. Or when you were stopped by a traffic cop. Or when you were in the service. Almost everyone living in an organized society has learned to obey those in authority or control most of the time. That is the way things work. Even those who have been convicted of crimes and sent to prison learn that adherence to rules and regulations and obeying the dictates of the warden and the guards is the quickest way to adapt or even get early release. So whether you respect authority or disdain government and bureaucracy, you follow directions regardless. You have been conditioned to do so all your life. Why not capitalize on that to overcome procrastination? It will propel you forward and it will blot out peripheral negatives and resistances. All that is necessary is to give mental orders to yourself. Put on the parent's or teacher's or policeman's hat and follow the directions that are given. For example, let us take a mundane activity you have resisted doing for weeks. Your garage is a mess, winter snow is on the way, and the space within has to be cleared of the summer's accumulation of gardening tools, household appliances, bicycles, tires, spring bulbs, barbecue paraphernalia, clothes, and several classifications of general debris. It is a boring and backbreaking job which you have been putting off until the weather forecast and your wife have told you it is now or never. Daction can come to your rescue. All you have to do is give yourself specific mental directions and immediately obey them. You will usually find that once you have started and are a few minutes into the project, it is no longer necessary to issue directives. You can turn them off and navigate very effectively from that point on. If, for any reason, you find yourself in a vacillating mode again, just flick the Daction switch and start consciously directing. Keep in mind that it is not the end result that should be the content of your directives. It is the nitty-gritty of the process itself, step by step, each immediately followed by action. Daction works for jobs that are no-brainers and it works for objectives that loom large from the window of your comfort zone. The key is to break the biggies into sub-goals and then apply Daction. After a while, your natural enthusiasm will supplant the directions you have been issuing and you will be pleasantly surprised at the progress you make. The reason why it works so well, in addition to your lifelong conditioning, is because you are removing extraneous thoughts and resistances and concentrating more effectively on the task at hand. |
